Responsible & Sustainable Roofing

Serving Chicago & The Chicagoland Area

Solar Power Fans, Vents, & Skylights

A smart alternative to conventional roof vents, the Solar Powered Attic Vent operates during the day and collects power from the sun to convert into electricity. In turn, this energy operates a high efficiency motor inside the power vent, so there's no added cost for electricity. That saves energy, which is better for the environment.

A Duro-Last Cool Roof System

Duro-Last Roofing Systems are particularly effective for rack-mounted rooftop solar systems. It is precision-fabricated to fit each building and delivered to the job site with up to 85% of membrane seaming completed in their factory. Custom prefabricated flashings for roof-penetrating support structures eliminate most rooftop labor from these critical areas. Pre-made rack flashing can mean faster roofing system installation as well!

Many companies claim to prioritize recycling, but at Duro-Last it is a focus at every step of the manufacturing process through the entire lifecycle of our products. During manufacturing, edge trim and scrap is kept clean and recycled back into production. This allows Duro-Last to reduce waste and recycle virtually all of its manufacturing waste. In our manufacturing facilities and corporate offices, our goal is to eliminate landfill waste.

At Lindholm Roofing, we proudly use Duro-Last Roofing for more responsible & sustainable roofing solutions for our Chicagoland customers.

A Roofing Layover

A layover or (reroof) is installing a new roof system on top of an existing roof system.  This reduces landfill waste.

Layovers are often performed when a roof is old and needs to be replaced, but the owner can't afford a new roof. The roofer will evaluate your roof and see if there is an option to install a new roofing membrane without removing the old one. Consult with Lindholm Roofing experts before deciding whether a roofing layover is suitable for your property. We can help you assess the condition of your existing roof and determine whether a layover will provide the desired results.

When A Roofing Layover Is Needed?

There are several reasons why you might need a roofing layover. Here are the most common reasons:

  1. The roof is old and needs to be replaced. Old roofs will start to show signs of wear & tear. Shingles or the flat roofing membrane may crack or curl.. If you notice these problems, then it's time to call Lindholm Roofing for an inspection.
  2. A roofing layover is less expensive than a full roof replacement. However, a roof layover is not always the best solution and may not provide the same level of protection as a new roof.  An inspection is needed before a roof layover can be decided.
  3. A layover roof can be used to repair minor damage to your roof. This might include replacing a few damaged shingles or repairing minor leaks. It is important to schedule an appointment with Lindholm Roofing and let our experts decide whether a layover is the best solution for your property.

The phrase “environmentally friendly” has saturated the marketplace, especially in the roofing industry. To ensure a truly environmentally friendly building, you should utilize products that are specifically designed to decrease negative impacts on the environment, such as cool roof materials, coatings, & membranes.

Roof Coatings – Conserve Energy

Roof coatings can be applied directly to your current roof, saving you the extra time and money associated with a roof replacement. Not having to pay for disposal costs or new roofing materials will also save you money. Although many roofs can easily be recoated, most roof coatings extend the lifespan of a roof by 5 to15 years.

Coatings protect your roof from UV rays because of their reflective properties. As a result, the temperature in your building will naturally drop, saving you money on electricity and lowering the strain on the HVAC system. Sun protection has the added benefit of lower maintenance costs and can even help prevent fading.

The Solar Powered "Fresh Air" Skylight features a solar panel that captures any available daylight and is the power source that opens and closes the skylight. A rain sensor is built in to close the unit in the event that inclement weather arises while you're away.  With this small investment, you can dramatically transform any room in your home with daylight and fresh air. In the long run, installing skylights will help you save on your utility bills.
